SEK Marketplace was created by a small group of citizens in the Coffeyville area, so our first content centers around the Coffeyville-Independence area; however, we’re interested in providing this space for everyone in the southeast Kansas region.

Another vision for SEK Marketplace is to use some web space to promote good animal health care and provide information about animals needing homes and otherwise lost or found. So, you’ll see our Critter Corner as one of the first areas of the marketplace being developed.

Unlike most web projects, in the beginning, you’ll notice a lack of commercial sponsors to help pay for the costs of operating this website. If the people of the area like the idea of a community based web site, and we see traffic to the site grow as we add community oriented content, we’ll sell space to commercial “for profit” businesses to help defray the start-up and operational costs. Although SEK Marketplace is not created as a not-for-profit project, the creating sponsors are willing to absorb the start up costs and donate some time to get the site up and running.

We need the help of other concerned citizens in the area to provide us with information about churches, civic and fraternal groups, student organizations, and any other non-profit groups in the area whose purpose is to make southeast Kansas a better place to work and live.
